Description

A savory, classic meatloaf recipe that’s packed with flavor from quality ground beef, fresh herbs, and a rich glaze. This comfort food is perfect for family dinners, with endless variations to suit all tastes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar (for glaze)

Instructions

  • Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and let it preheat.
  • In a spacious mixing bowl, blend together the ground beef, finely diced onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, a beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary.
  • Stir the ingredients gently until they’re well combined.
  • Mold the mixture into a loaf shape and transfer it to a baking dish.
  • In a separate small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and vinegar. Spread this glaze over the top of the meatloaf.
  • Bake for approximately 1 hour, or until the meatloaf’s internal temperature hits 160°F (71°C).
  • Allow the meatloaf to sit for 10 minutes before cutting into it. Serve warm and enjoy.

Notes

  • Substitute breadcrumbs with crushed crackers or oats for a different texture.
  • You can add grated Parmesan, diced bell peppers, or shredded carrots for extra flavor.
