Description

Soft, buttery, and covered in a delightful cinnamon-sugar coating, these cinnamon-sugar pretzels are the perfect balance of sweet and chewy. A quick boil in baking soda water gives them their signature texture, while the cinnamon sugar coating makes them irresistibly delicious. Perfect for snacks or desserts!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F/45°C)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted (for coating)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda (for boiling water)
  • Sea salt (optional, for topping)

Instructions

In a small bowl, mix warm water with sugar, then sprinkle the yeast over the surface. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until it forms a frothy layer. Make the Dough In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.

If it’s too sticky, add a bit more flour, then knead on a floured surface for 5 minutes. Shape the Pretzels Divide the dough into 10-12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a long rope, approximately 18-20 inches in length.

Boil the Pretzels Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add baking soda. Gently drop each pretzel into the boiling water for 30 seconds, then remove and place them on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake the Pretzels Bake the pretzels for 12-15 minutes, or until they achieve a lovely golden brown color. Coat in Cinnamon Sugar While still warm, brush each pretzel with melted butter. In a separate bowl, blend cinnamon and sugar, then roll each pretzel in this mixture until thoroughly coated. Optional Topping For an extra burst of flavor, sprinkle a touch of sea salt over the cinnamon sugar for a delightful sweet-and-salty contrast. Notes These pretzels are best enjoyed fresh and warm. Any leftovers can be frozen by wrapping them tightly in plastic wrap and storing them in an airtight container.
